Pandora's Makeup Box - haul and review #2

Use code CityGirl20 in Pandora's online shop to take 20% off your purchase! (they ship worldwide). Gosh I just love Pandora. Their makeup is consistent, reliable and makes my face look so polished. Check out my first haul and review for a look at another eyeshadow quad, lipgloss and eye primer and check out this post for a peek at their amazing blush. This time I got an eyeshadow quad in Hugs and Kisses, a lipstick in Chic and a lipgloss in Delicious.

Let's start off with the eyeshadow...

Love the packaging - so pretty and girly

Peek-a-boo! I see you!
Clockwise: Baby Pink, Breeze, Eggplant, Smoky Brown
Swatch of Baby Pink, Breeze, Smoky Brown, Eggplant.
Quad on eyes
This is the second eyeshadow quad I have from Pandora and, like the first, I'm really happy with it. What I like about these quads is that the colours go together really well, so it's easy to create a look - no guessing involved. With the primer underneath it extends the length of the shadows so they last all day without creasing.

Next is the lipstick...

In the packaging
Lipstick colour is "Chic"
Swatch on hand
Swatch on lips
Chic is a really nice colour - subtle with a hint of shine. It goes on light but you can build up the colour. It also smells like vanilla! Mmmmm :)

And lastly, the lipgloss...

All boxed up!
The tube - it's huge!
Love me some pink - this colour is called Delicious
oooh - nice shine :)
Swatch on lips
I can't say enough good things about Pandora's glosses - the colour brightens your face and it's got lovely shine. It also smells like spearmint! A swipe of this gloss and it instantly completes your look (kind of like a good tube of mascara).

Their eyeshadow quads retail for $48.00 and their lipsticks and glosses are $16 each, but my promo code CityGirl20 will get you 20% off anything you order! If you haven't tried out Pandora, now's the perfect time.

*Update* - Pandora has just launched this lipgloss called I am a Girl - it's similar to the gloss I swatch here, Delicious, but this gloss is special as $8.00 from each tube sold will go to the charity "Because I am a Girl". If you get the special I am a Girl gloss, the discount code won't apply to it, but not only will you be lookin' good, you'll be feeling pretty good as you help empower women and girls around the world! (Check out their post about it here).

Julep Yumi over OPI Miami Beat

Hi all! Just a quick post on the mani I'm currently wearing - this is Julep's Yumi (an add-on from my July box) over OPI's Miami Beat.

Closer look
With Yumi
I love how Yumi has lots of silver, pink and multi glitter - it makes the Miami Beat base get up and dance! (Yes, pun intended ;) Yumi would look great over blue as well - it's a fun addition to my polish collection.

Have you signed up for Julep yet? If you want to be a Maven, intro box is only a penny (all in!) Consider using my referral link to join (and use code MAVENINTRO at checkout).

*Update* So I reread the bottle and the polish is actually named Miami Beet. Whoops. I guess my mind was just on dancing the day I wrote this!*

IT Cosmetics haul

The Shopping Channel is having a beauty extravaganza for the whole month of July, and boy, is it tempting. First I got that AH-MA-ZING beauty tote bag (see Plumpish Beauty for a great review of each product in the bag). Then I used my savings card from the bag to get the IT Cosmetics showstopper (and added on their Hello Lashes! mascara 2-pack). The 5-piece kit at the showstopper price was $59.57; the mascara duo was $29, add on tax ($12.69)and shipping ($8.98) and minus the savings card ($29.87) my final price was $80.37. Not bad. Let's go check out the loot!

Bronzer, blusher and highlighter compact
Opened up
This is a GIANT compact - the top left is a lovely, soft, shimmy-shimmy highlighter; the bottom left is a wonderful pink blush and the right half is a beautiful bronzer. I love it! These colours go on sheer but gives the face a healthy flush. The compact is called "Live, Love, Laugh Vitality Face Disc" - waterproof anti-aging matte bronzer, brightening blush tint and radiance illuminator. It has hydrolyzed collagen, peptides "drops of light" technology (not sure what that is), vitamins A, C, E, grapeseed, green tea, silk and aloe. Oooh. Fancy. ;) It retails on it's own for $39.00

Next is Bye-Bye Undereye concealer - one of their best-selling products.

The concealer
This is a waterproof concealer enhanced with vitamins C & K. It is also a GIANT 30 ml tube (will last for a year I bet). You only need a bit and the coverage is really good and lasts all day.

Swatch on hand (I put a bit too much on!)
You can see a little goes a loooong way - you just need a tiny scrap (and I put too much on my hand :)

My right eye (your left) has the concealer
My right eye (remember, it's the left eye when looking at this pic :) has the Bye-Bye Undereye concealer on. Pretty good! The concealer alone retails for $29.00

Next up is the Vitality lip flush lipstick.

Nice sleek tube
The lipstick

It's actually colourless, but after 30 seconds when you put it on, it gives you a customized pink shade.

Light swatch on hand
This is a fab lipstick, because you can just apply lightly for a tint or apply with a heavier hand for a darker pop of colour.

Swatch on lips
I went over my lips a few times to get a brighter colour. It is incredibly soft and moisturizing, as it contains plum and cherry oil, shea butter, argan and jojoba, vitamins a, c, e, green and white tea and aloe (my favourite). This retails on it's own for around $20.00.

And now for the wonderful brushes (one of the main reasons I got this kit actually!)

Jumbo Heavenly Luxe Brush
Dual Airbrush Complexion Brush
These brushes are so soft and they apply makeup like a dream. I am especially enthusiastic about the jumbo brush - it's HUGE and so soft and excellent for powder and bronzer. I wanted to buy the kit just for this brush :) The jumbo brush on it's own retails for $58.00 and the dual-ended brush retails for $48.00. Since the showstopper as a whole was $59.57, it was like I just bought the jumbo brush and got all the other amazing products for free (that's what I'm telling myself!)

Now for the add-on - the Hello Lashes! mascara duo.

Nice - no parabens or animal testing :) Thumbs up!
The tube (sleek and love the soft handle)
The wand
What is super cool about this mascara (besides the lengthening formula) is the wand. There is a little ball on the tip, so you can use it vertically as well as horizontally and catch every last lash.

My right eye (your left :) with the mascara
Same thing, right eye (your left) with Hello Lashes!
Both eyes now with the mascara (loving the length!)
Both eyes with mascara (awesome!)
It is now a close race between this mascara and my mascara from Inspire Cosmetics as my favourite. Both thicken and lengthen really nicely, but I think I like this brush a bit better, as it separates and defines the lashes, and the little ball on the end is a huge help getting the lashes in the inner and outer corners. Two full size tubes were $29.00.

Overall, I am impressed by this haul and by IT Cosmetics. I'll definitely check out some of their products in the future...I'm especially interested in their Bye-Bye Pores loose setting powder. You can find IT Cosmetics through The Shopping Channel or ebeauty.ca (QVC for my American friends!). Ebeauty also has an amazing summer sampler bag for $30 which comes with a variety of neat beauty products, including an IT Cosmetics Bye-Bye Pores airbrushed bronzer.

Have you tried out IT Cosmetics? What do you think of the line?

Julep Melissa and O Canada

Here's a NOTD I did with Julep's Melissa (opalescent shimmer) and O Canada (red and mix holo glitter in a clear base).

O Canada and Melissa
My mani

Why I really like this combo is because the opal background of Melissa has a holo kick, so it sets off the glitter in O Canada, but it also gives a subtle background for the red bits to really stand out. It's a lovely Canadian mani!

Merlot Skincare

Today I want to share with you a skincare line that has rapidly become one of my favourites - Merlot Skincare. I first found out about the brand through samples in my May BB5 box. There I received three packets of their Moonlight Radiance night cream. The first time I tried it, I was hooked. It has a lovely soft grape smell and feels so fresh on my skin, absorbs quickly and makes my skin so soft. I went over to the Merlot website and at the time they were having a 50% off sale on products, so I decided to place an order. I've been using all the products now for several weeks and am head over heels for this line.

The night cream

The night cream is rich and velvety, with that soft grape scent. Really nice. The whole premise of Merlot is it uses grape seeds in every formulation, as they are good antioxidants, hence the name, Merlot :)

Day Cream
Oooh, nice colour!

The day cream is just as lovely as the night cream, same rich texture and goes on light, smooth and fresh. The day cream also comes with the added benefits of spf 15.

Body Lotion
Soft and smooth
This body lotion is another winning product. It absorbs quickly and is non-greasy. Has that same nice scent too!

Shower Gel
I love the scent and it works up a great lather! Soft and creamy shower gel.

Grape Seed Oil
I also got a bottle of 100% grape seed oil. This is so moisturising to use on your legs after shaving, and it's also a good cuticle/massage oil.

Besides these products, I had two bonus items in my shipment, as I won a Father's Day contest Merlot ran on their facebook page.

Soap-free Cleanser
The cleanser
I am loving this cleanser as it is so creamy and rich, and does not dry out my skin - it just leaves it feeling soft and very clean.

Merlot lip balm
The balm
This is a great lip balm for summer; it has spf 15 and isn't too thick or sticky, just goes on smoothly. It is also unscented and a lovely purple in the tube (goes on clear).

Overall, I am really pleased with the Merlot line of products. Because I purchased during the 50% off sale, I did save significantly. The night cream was $9.50 (regular price $19.00). The day cream was $8.00 (regular price $16.00). The body lotion was $5.50 (regular price $11.00). The shower gel was $5.50 (regular price $11.00). The grapeseed oil was just $4.00 (regular price $8.00). And because I won the giveaway, the cleanser and lip balm were free (regular prices $11.00 and $3.00). Canadian shipping was $12.00 (they ship from Texas) so the total of my order was only $44.50! But even at regular price, the line is very affordable and the products feel wonderful. They also have different promotions at different times of the year (right now there is a buy one get one free on certain items) so check the website for deals. No animal testing on any of these products as well!
