NOTD: Julep O Canada and Donna

Just a quick NOTD to show: I layered Julep's O Canada over lovely peacock-blue Donna, and here's the result!

Pretty nice, eh? I love how the multicolour glitter of O Canada sets off and enhances that gorgeous shade of blue.

Do you own either of these colours? What Julep shades do you like to layer?

Mini Black Friday Haul

I took the opportunity on Black Friday to get some of my Christmas shopping done. Now that Canada gets in on the sales, I zipped over to the mall to see what they had. I ended up making a dent in the Christmas list, and picked up just a few things for myself along the way. This post will only cover what I got myself, as I don't want to ruin any gift surprises!

The mini-haul
Bath and Body Works fragrance, lotion and shower gel

First, Bath and Body Works had their buy 3 get 3 free promo running, so I bought some gifts and picked up these three items for me for free! Twisted Peppermint is peppermint and creamy vanilla swirled together and it smells SO. GOOD. Like a Christmas candy cane :) I also like layering scents and I can do this with the shower gel, lotion and then fragrance spray.

Sleep Mask
Have I ever mentioned how much I love sleep masks? I find they help me settle into a deep sleep faster and I stay asleep without waking up numerous times in the night. They block out any light pollution coming in from streetlamps (or the neighbour across the way) and are very comfortable. I just find that every 6 months or so the elastic gets a bit too loose, but at $4.00 a pop - this is a much more economical alternative than a sleeping pill! I got this mask at Old Navy.

essence Twilight makeup collection
I was also at Shoppers and in their cosmetics aisle they had a Twilight-inspired makeup display by the brand essence. The products in the collection ranged from around $2-5 each (cheap thrill, eh?), so I picked up a blush (Renesmee Red), shimmer powder (Bella's Secret) and lipgloss (Renesmee Red).

Swatch of shimmer powder and blush
I've used all 3 products - the shimmer powder is really lovely and great for highlighting; I like to use it with my big fat brush just to finish off my look. For the blush, all you need is a dab and blended in it gives cheeks a nice flush.

Swatch of the gloss
The lipgloss gives lips a nice hint of red (and is super shiny!) Nice for when I want to wear red (and not have it as dark as my lipsticks). This would also be a good layering gloss.

Not too bad; I got myself a few nice things without overstepping my budget. (And on Black Friday, as on Boxing Day, there are so many good deals that this can be hard to do!)

Did you do any Black Friday shopping? What about Cyber Monday?

ipsy (myglam) First Canadian Bag!

A few days ago, my first ipsy bag arrived in the mail. ipsy used to be called myglam, and it was only available in the U.S. - until now! October 30 they opened up Canadian registrations and I signed up that day. This is really exciting as I watched myglam unboxings on blogs and YouTube and hoped that they would come over to Canada one day. That day has arrived!

The big pink mailing envelope
ipsy costs $10/month, shipping is free in the U.S. but is an extra $4.95 for Canadians. Since my QVC testtube was cancelled (QVC is no longer shipping to Canada) this is another good option.

The Glam Bag
Each month comes in a reusable bag (I think this might be where Glymm got the idea from)

Product card
inside November's Glam bag

eclos Anti-Aging Regenerative Cream
This cream contains high potency plant stem cells which is supposed to slow the signs of aging. It smells light and fresh, kind of like lemons. I don't mind this product at all as I like trying out new face creams. It is not on the product card since I think this was a item included as a replacement for the BareMinerals Moxie gloss.

Starlet eyeliner
Full size Starlet cosmetics eye pencil in Chocolate. I actually use my brown liner pencils just as much as black, as since I got a black MUFE liner in my Topbox, I'm glad to receive a different colour in this glam bag.

nailtini nail lacquer in Millionaire
This is probably my favourite item in the bag - full size nailtini polish. Millionaire is from their new Speakeasy collection - I think this polish is so unique and fun! tinibeauty also lets you customize your polish and lipgloss! This retails on their site for $13!

benefit's they're Real! mascara
This is now one of my favourite mascaras so I totally welcome this sample! (see my swatch and review of it here).

theBalm eyeshadow
You know, I was in Sephora today and asked one of the associates about theBalm and she said she never heard of this company and then directed me towards the lip balms. I mean come on! This is a sweet little dark purple eyeshadow - would look excellent with the aforementioned MUFA eyeliner!

Special product offers
The product card does not have much by way of description of the items included in the bag or retail prices, but they do offer some sweet discounts!

Note to Canadian subscribers
What was my bonus item?

myglam pouch and makeup brush
I've seen this in previous month's unboxings, hopefully they continue to send a brush a month so I can get the set!

One more thing...

JustFab coupon
ipsy also included a $20 justfab coupon, but this is only for new members. I'm already a justfab member, and let me tell you, do they ever have amazing shoes, purses and accessories. If you'd like to join, send me a message and I'll send you the code. Also consider using my referral link :)  The card expires Dec. 7, 2012.

So overall I'm quite impressed with this first ipsy bag. Great makeup items, a nice cream to try and a super fun polish! Hope they can keep this up.

If you'd like to subscribe to ipsy, you can do so here (not a referal link).

Preview: December Julep Maven

December selections
It's the 20th of the month which means it's Julep Maven preview time! For December, it's all about the glitter (all images from julep.com)

Here are the swatches of all the available colours this month

Let's see what's in each box!

American Beauty - Patti (black glitter); Julia (orchid metallic shimmer) and Warming Foot Scrub

Boho Glam - Jordan (gunmetal glitter); Petra (magenta shimmer) and Warming Foot Scrub

Bombshell - Hilary (copper glitter); Cindy (emerald metallic shimmer) and Warming Foot Scrub

Classic with a Twist - Barbara (magenta glitter); Scarlett (red metallic shimmer) and
Warming Foot Scrub

IT Girl - Vivien (champagne glitter); Ivy (sapphire metallic shimmer); Harper (mermaid blue glitter)

Holiday Nail Wardrobe (the polishes from all 5 box profiles + Warming Foot Scrub
(extra $30)

Julep also now shows how the polishes look on both light and dark skintones (awesome):

American Beauty
Boho Glam
Classic with a Twist
IT Girl

If you can't get enough of this month's styles, you can also go hog-wild with your add-on selections as well. Add-on any individual polish from the December collection to your shipment for $4.99 each, the Warming Foot Scrub for $9.99, a bottle of Julep nail therapy for $5.99 or a set of ten polish remover packettes for $4.99 (samples of this was in November's Maven box). Or what if you just NEED. MORE. GLITTER. NOW!

Glitter and Glow collection
For the first time, you can add on a whole 'nother set to your order. This Winter Collection boasts 5 polishes: Colby (citrine green glitter); Lucy (burgandy cream); Sharon (red shimmer); Kathleen (champagne shimmer); Carly (malibu blue glitter). This set is an additional $19.99 as an add on, or if you're giving these as presents, you can add on three of these sets for $59.99 or even add-on five of these sets for $79.99. (If you just want to purchase any of the colours individually, these can be added on for $4.99 each). There's a max of 3 add-ons and this month there is so much selection.

Honestly, I think Julep really outdid themselves with the December Maven boxes. I knew it was going to be big and shiny, but there is so much here (unless you're a cream polish girl). But in terms of colours they've got the whole kit n' caboodle. Each of the boxes look amazing so it's going to be so hard to choose; this might be the first month I upgrade the whole collection.

*Update* How did I forget to mention this - Julep posted about a week ago in a facebook preview that every Maven box will include a DIY Cabochon ring - choose your favourite colour and make it into jewellery! (Apparently, I read somewhere that the little prongs should fold down - so it shouldn't poke someone's eye out ;)

DIY ring

Which Maven box do you like best? Add-on's? What do you think of the Winter Collection add-on? The DIY ring?

And if you're not a Maven yet, join in the fun. Consider using my referral link, or if you prefer not to you can sign up here. Intro box is only a penny, use code COLOR2012 at checkout.

Eden Fantasys - beauty and a little something spicy!

Disclaimer: Sponsored Post. 18+

I was recently introduced to Eden Fantasys, an online store that specializes in lingerie, adult toys and...beauty? You heard that right. Eden Fantasys has a whole beauty and body care section, from bath and shower products, moisturizers and whipped body creams, through to eye pallettes and bronzers , lip balms and glosses , shimmer body powders, and more. (They also carry favourites from Cake Beauty, Principessa and Eos). There's also tasteful products to spice up your love life, such as edible massage oils, paints and lotions , all kinds of massage oils and lotions and even massage candles!

I've got my eye on the following (all images from EdenFantasys.com):

Bella IL Fiore Mineral Beauty Bronzer ($22.99)

How fun is this? A GIANT bronzer compact (love the design!)

Bella in Bloom - powder, shadow, gloss ($21.99)
Another Bella item - what a gorgeous palette! (I'm quite partial to pinks and have been on a bit of a palette kick!)
Perfect Pout Lip Gloss duo ($13.99)

Bella IL Fiore's gloss duo - pretty colour + a hint of shine.
Kissable Glamour Powder (ooh la la!) ($14.92)

Body powder that smells (and tastes - oh my!) like strawberries. Love the feather brush!
Venus Body Butter in Pomegranate ($17.99)

They have a bunch of scents - but pomegranate went on my wishlist.
Doccia me satin shower cap (too cute!) $11.99
Oh, this Principessa shower cap is just fab! This must be where the term "bathing beauty" came from.

EOS hand lotion ($7.99)

This Evolution of Smooth lotion is scented like berry. The packaging is so neat and reminds me a bit of their lipbalms.
Simply Sensual body scrub ($12.99)
Keeping with the pomegranate theme, this is a sugar scrub scented in pomegranate ginger. Heavenly!

Lelo flickering touch massage oil ($38.99)
What a sleek-looking bottle - this massage oil also has the scent of spicy clove and amber!

ONO massage candle ($15.95)
Light the candle, and use the melted soy wax as massage lotion (this candle is also infused with shea butter and scented in French Vanilla! Yum.)

This is just a smattering of products in their Beauty and Body product section.

I like how EdenFantasys mixes beauty with more intimate products - it's a place where everything is flirty and fun and you can choose items based on your level of comfort.

They also have an amazing referral program and points system. When you create an account, points are awarded for product ratings, adding items to your wishlist, subscribing to a newsletter, writing a review and more. As points add up, they are then transferable into gift cards for the site. EdenFantasys also partners with bloggers for site and product posts and reviews!

If you're as intrigued about this site as I am, right now, EdenFantasys has a 20% off site wide promotion - just enter code SEXYTHANKS in at checkout (Ends Nov. 23 at 2pm EST)
