Fortune Cookie Soap Fall Soap Box

No issues with my Fall Fortune Cookie Soap box this season...it arrived in the mail late last week. And it couldn't be better timing as Fall scents are my favorite, this is the box that I look forward to the most from FCS.

All the goodies nestled inside!

Product card

Personal Space "Pick of the Patch"; OCD Hand Sanitizer "Indian Summer"

The Personal Space "Pick of the Patch" air freshener smells like sweet pumpkin spice - one of my fave scents in this box. The OCD hand sanitizer is a staple in these boxes (and great size for your purse). "Indian Summer" has a musky fruity, berry light scent (not jazzed about the name though, it's an outdated term.) Maybe something like "Endless Summer" instead (taking a nod from the Squarehue August box - really liked that one). Or maybe call it "Heat Wave"?

"Leeeaaf Piiiile!!" Bath Fizzy; "Cranberry + Apple + FTW" wax tart
These are fun little items - "Leeeaaf Piiiile!" made me smile - exactly the feeling of jumping into a big ol' pile of leaves and it smells like a juicy apple sprinkled with a bit of nutmeg. Cran-Apple For the Win smells, well, like Cran-apple with a hint of spice and will smell even more Ah-Ma-Zing in my tart burner, scenting up the house.

"Autumn Daze" Fortune Cookie Soap

The soap in this month's box smells light and fresh- I definitely get the cardamom, pecan bits and a hint of apple. I find these are great as guest soaps, they look really unique and people always ask about them "is that SOAP? How cool!"

"You're Insecure, Donut What For..." #fall Milk Bath; "" Bath Oil

Ahh, a milk bath that smells like sugary, cinnamon doughnuts and a bath oil that smells like yummy buttery vanilla cookies. Bath time is now dessert time! I just love baked goods scents, especially for fall.

"'I Yam what I Yam' Said the Marshmallow" Whipped Cream
What FCS box would be complete without a whipped cream - and this one takes the cake! Sweet/spicy pumpkin-y goodness with marshmallow notes - heaven! (The cinnamon stick was included in the box as well, so upon opening you immediately inhale the scents of the season).

With so many wonderful fall scents, it's going to be hard to narrow down a couple to get in full size! Each FCS Soap box comes with a $10 coupon code towards your next order, and for Canadians, that generally takes a big chunk off the shipping, so each season I usually wait for the box before placing my order so I save a bit on shipping. It's also a great way to sample the scents and find your favorites. If you'd like to subscribe, they are taking orders now for the Winter Soap box; it's $19.99 every three months for U.S., $28.00 every three months for Canada, and $34.00 every three month International.

Squarehue September - Serengeti Collection

My September Squarehue box is here! This month, the theme was Serengeti....

September box
As soon as I saw this picture, I was really looking forward to it - grassland greens, tans and browns I guessed, and so perfect to start off the fall season.

First peek at the colours

 A closer look

From L to R: Grassland Safari, Savanna Sundowner, Swahili Charm
Better view of this month's colours
Grassland Safari - a yellow/green jelly
Savanna Sundowner - an olive green/gold shimmer
Swahili Charm - an earthy brown cream
These shades definitely showcase the Serengeti theme - I feel like my nails might go on safari! Let's swatch 'em out...

Boy, that Savanna Sundowner has a great shimmer in the light! I also like the lighter, jelly-type look of Grassland Safari and Swahili Charm is just a gorgeously rich, earthy brown - brown also being very on-trend for fall. I wouldn't have picked out any of these three colours if I chose them myself, but I do like all three...another reason why I'm partial to Squarehue is it makes me step out of my polish comfort zone. I never used to be a fan of anything yellow-ish until this summer, when Julep put out a shimmery butter yellow (Nadia) in the July box (I used my Jules that month and upgraded to the whole collection), then Squarehue and Bondi in August sent me yellows (Bikini Beach and Brick Road) and now Grassland Safari. Having these sent to me and trying them out, I've got a new appreciation for a colour that I always used to avoid. I don't think yellow-toned polishes will ever be my most favorite, but I will definitely throw it into the mani mix once in awhile. My favorite of this box has got to be Savanna Sundowner, as I don't have any olive-toned polishes, and I'm partial to a bit of shimmer!

My favorite part of Squarehue is the monthly theme and then sending polishes round that theme. Which is why I think it's very cool that they have also tied in a playlist for the Serengeti Collection on Spotify, but what sucks is that I don't think we can access it in Canada. Maybe try rdio next time?

Next month is a really intriguing theme - The Moto Collection...

I'm guessing chromes, maybe shimmers or creams, black, grey, orange? Looks promising!

If you're interested in subscribing to Squarehue, it's $14.99/month plus shipping ($5/U.S. $9/CAN). Each month you receive 3 full size nail colours and you can pause or cancel at any time.

In the world of nail polish (and a bit of beauty too!) NPC can't be beat. From their AMAZING customer service to their great selection of products and fast shipping, all us Canadian beauty/polish junkies definitely rank them at the top of the e-commerce list. And so does Canada Post. If you haven't heard, NPC is in the running to be the best E-tailer in Canada from Canada Post's E-Commerce Awards. It's up to us if they reign supreme as the Consumer Champion!

And there are prizes! (Yes, I knew I got your attention there). You can vote every day (Aug 28-Sept 20) and each day you vote you are eligible for an NPC prize (past prizes have included China Glaze Feather Effects collection, Essie's For the Twill of it collection, Zoya's Cashmeres collection - really excellent stuff!) Just make sure you register to vote through NPC beforehand so they can record your entry.

That's not all. If NPC wins Consumer Champion then they will have a mega-giveaway - one winner will receive 24 bottles of Enchanted polish (unreal!) and another will receive a $1000 shopping spree at NPC.

So what are you waiting for? If Nail Polish Canada is the double-double in your coffee, the elephant in your ear, the toque on your head, the maple syrup on your pancakes...enough Canadian-isms - you get the idea - go and vote every day!
